The Carabine Fund for Iraqi Children has been established to provide help and support to children across Iraq. Children who have lost family members, who no longer go to school because the schools no longer exist or the teachers have left, who are suffering from overwhelming sadness and poverty through loss of parents or lack of jobs for caregivers. These children are in need of the basic material things that being a child demands; paper and pencils, toys, anything glittery (very much part of the Iraqi culture) and perhaps most importantly, soccer balls. Apparently soccer balls are the most highly desired item among Iraqi kids. The Fund is collecting donations and putting together care packages to send out for distribution among local children and schools. TracyAnn's husband, Capt Conlon Carabine is currently embedded as part of a Military Transition Team with a battalion of Iraqi army. The items sent to Iraq for the children will be distributed throughout the Al Anbar province through this contact. Regardless of your feelings towards this war, these children are the unwilling victims. We are reaching out to the children of Iraq through the Iraqi army and the United States Marine Corps to enrich the lives of these kids.
